Woodbury Corporation Recognized for Developments that Enrich Utah Communities
Two Woodbury Corporation Projects Receive Honorable Mentions in the Second Annual CNU Utah Awards for Excellence
SALT LAKE CITY (November 17, 2016) – Woodbury Corporation, a full-service real estate development and management company, today announced that two of its Utah developments – Sugar House Center and University Place – received honorable mentions as part of the Congress for New Urbanism (CNU) 2016 Utah Awards for Excellence.
The CNU Awards are designed to recognize outstanding efforts that implement visionary planning, large and small developments, and tactical urbanism that enrich people’s lives and contribute to making the Wasatch Front a more walkable, bikeable and enjoyable place to live.
Sugar House Center is a mixed-use revitalization project that includes: Wilmington Plaza, an urban community space; Wilmington Flats, a modern apartment community; Legacy Village, an independent and assisted senior community; as well as assorted retail and office space, with more developments to come. Woodbury Corporation, along with project partners Dee’s Inc., Colmena Group, the Salt Lake City RDA, VCBO Architects, and Beecher Walker, received a CNU Honorable Mention for Urban Infill, which honors individual projects that demonstrate many strong and exemplary urban design elements.
University Place (formerly University Mall) is a 112-acre development that recently began a $500 million revitalization to add residential, office and green space to what has been Utah County’s premiere shopping destination for over 40 years. University Place was honored with a CNU Honorable Mention for Suburban Retrofit for converting a suburban style mall to a viable urban district and increasing the area’s overall quality of life. Woodbury Corporation shares the honor with project partners Ivory, the City of Orem, Nexus, KCB Architects, Woodbury Architects, and Studio Outside.
“We love that these CNU awards really value the positive impact design and development can have on communities,” said Lynn Woodbury, vice president of architecture at Woodbury Corporation. “That’s exactly what we strive to achieve with every one of our projects, and we are grateful that those efforts have been recognized.”
Woodbury Corporation and the other winners were awarded at a banquet on November 17 at Publik coffee Roasters in Salt Lake City.
