SMITH’S MARKETPLACE TO ANCHOR DINOSAUR CROSSING SHOPPING CENTER

(ST GEORGE, UT) – Smith’s Food & Drug is constructing a new Smith’s Marketplace store at the southwest corner of Mall and Riverside Drives in St. George.

The 123,000 square foot multi-department store will offer a complete grocery store along with pharmacy, apparel and household needs; Fred Meyer Jewelers; Murray’s Cheese, sit-down sushi and hot Asian food bar; fresh made to order baked pizzas, salads and sandwiches; and a Starbucks with indoor and outdoor seating. In addition, the store will feature an on-site Smith’s Fuel Center, ClickList Online grocery pick up and two-lane drive through pharmacy.

The $21 million Smith’s Marketplace will anchor the first phase of the 25-acre shopping project under development as a joint venture between Woodbury Corporation, a full service real estate development and management company, and Ball Ventures, a commercial real estate investment and development company. Wadman Corporation will build the store. When completed in spring 2017, it will be the14th Smith’s Marketplace to be built in Utah.

“Smith’s is well known throughout Utah as a quality retailer and grocer,” said St George Mayor Jon Pike.  “We are pleased they will be offering residents and visitors another shopping experience and option in St. George.”

Smith’s is now mid-way in its expansion plan the company announced in 2015 to expand the Marketplace brand in Utah through 2017, representing a construction investment of $300 million in the state. The existing Smith’s Food & Drug Store at 20 North Bluff Street in St. George will remain operational.
A division of the Kroger Co. (NYSE:KR) Smith’s currently operates a total of 139 stores and 96 fuel centers in seven western states, including 50 stores and 43 fuel centers in Utah. www.smithsfoodanddrug.com.
