SALT LAKE CITY (December 2, 2016) – Sunset Ridge Development Partners (Sunset Ridge), a partnership between Woodbury Corporation and Hunt Companies, broke ground today on a new 75,000 square-foot facility at the Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park (Falcon Hill) located at Hill Air Force Base. Once it’s completed, the new facility will be leased by defense contractor Lockheed Martin and other tenants, and is expected to bring up to 500 new jobs into Utah.

“The Falcon Hill project is a leading example of unprecedented partnerships making a difference in Utah communities,” said Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert. “We welcome Lockheed Martin’s expansion at Falcon Hill and the potential it will bring to attract additional high-paying jobs to our state.”

This new office building is Sunset Ridge’s sixth major development as part of the 550-acre Enhanced Use Lease (EUL) project at Falcon Hill – one of the largest of its kind in the Department of Defense. Thanks to this unique public-private partnership, Sunset Ridge has been able to develop commercial property on land owned by Hill Air Force Base, either inside the fence or outside the accessible by the public. The most recently-completed office building, now occupied by Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center’s Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Systems Directorate, opened in December 2014, and a retail facility with a Starbucks Coffee opened in 2015.

“The development opportunities we’ve created as part of this EUL project have been both innovative and exciting,” said E. Taylor Woodbury, chief operating officer at Woodbury Corporation. “We’re doing much more here than just building new structures; we’re helping to prepare Hill Air Force Base for the future, all while bringing in new jobs to the community.”

The next developments for Falcon Hill currently in the pipeline include a 74,000 square-foot software building on base, and a site for the Utah Science Technology and Research initiative just outside the gate.
