· Project Marks First Completed Entry in Woodbury Corporation’s New Community-focused Senior Housing Effort
· The Abbington has 63 Affordable Housing Apartments, a Full-time Medical Staff, and a Variety of Independent and Assisted Living Services

SALT LAKE CITY (November 19, 2015) – Woodbury Corporation, a full-service real estate development company, today announced the grand opening of The Abbington Senior Living Community in Mapleton, Utah. Woodbury Corporation has invested $1.7 million dollars into the development of the all-inclusive senior housing project – the first of its kind in Mapleton and the first completed venture into senior living for the Woodbury Corporation.

With the “baby boomer” generation getting older, Woodbury Corporation recognizes there are not enough high-quality, affordable living spaces to serve that population. By investing in The Abbington and drawing on the extensive hospitality expertise it has amassed managing multiple hotel projects, Woodbury Corporation will relieve some of the pressures facing seniors and their families.

“It has always been important to us to invest in projects and properties that provide solutions to community problems,” said Jeff Woodbury, vice president of development and acquisitions for Woodbury Corporation. “The Abbington goes beyond just addressing medical needs of seniors, and focuses on providing a comfortable lifestyle for its residents – a natural extension of our hospitality portfolio.”

The Abbington Senior Living Community is Mapleton’s first full-service senior community. The community is made up of 63 individual housing apartments designed for both independent seniors as well as those who require additional assistance – including those with Alzheimer needs. A full-time medical staff includes an on-site nurse, a visiting physician and podiatrist, a mobile dentist, and medical transportation to outside appointments. Other services include daily gourmet meals, educational opportunities, entertainment, daily activities, a hair salon, and more.

“One of our goals with The Abbington is to make it as easy as possible for seniors to transition into their new phase of life,” said Matt Walker, vice president of The Abbington Senior Living. “That means providing them the medical care and assistance they need without neglecting their social and lifestyle needs – which is why Woodbury was such an essential partner for us. Woodbury knows importance of building a strong community, and their expertise throughout this project has been invaluable.”

The Abbington Senior Living Community is located at 1483 West 800 South in Mapleton. A grand opening celebration will take place Thursday, November 19 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony beginning at 12:00 pm. Other events during the celebration include a lunch prepared by the community’s chef, live entertainment from local residents, games and prizes, and tours of the community.
